We are currently looking for those in the TS1 categories both girls and boys. Yes the TS1s of last season have moved to TS2 leaving some gaps. So those budding 9-10 year old athletes put your name down and you could be winner of the SWS at TS1.

Race dates will be confirmed shortly. Please note Youth and Junior your first race will be the Chilly Duathlon at Castle Coombe with DBMax. Unfortunately the Tri-Star categories will not be staged this year so alternative races are now being targeted. Thanks for your patience and all will be revealed soon. J

Since the end of last season co-ordination of the events and confirmation with organisers has been taking place.  We are almost there on being able to share with you the SWS events.

Happy Christmas

Yes SW Presentations weekend never disappoints.  This our second year where all athletes who completes the South West Series of races are invited down to stay at Kelly College, Tavistock to enjoy a weekend of triathlon fun.  All arriving at midday Saturday they were all ready to ride just after one on a fantastically sunny day for the ‘wet country’!  Yes an afternoon of mountain biking being given tips and tricks by the professionals!

This was followed in the evening by presentations of trophies by our special guest Martin Exley from Brroks our sponsor.  There were prizes handed out after our triathlon quiz followed by more goodies at the end.  Everyone received a certificate recognising their contribution to the series and our Championship races.  The winners of the series receiving certificates signed by Jonathan and Alaistair Brownlee which we are very grateful to. 

Early to bed then!  No chance some of the more highly charged had some fun but lights finally went out a bit later! 

Up then for an hour and half swim to get everyone ready for breakfast at 9.  The Hash (run) followed at 10.  The convoy of cars disappearing over Dartmoor to drop off the athletes to start the run.  A good start with all the athletes running off in different directions to pick up the first ‘blob’ of flour.  As ever their keen sense for ‘looking’ as with all teenagers did not help and so a gentle tip in the right direction got them off the start line.  On! On! the blobs spotted and off they went.  In the meantime this allowed all the parents to disappear and wait for the group to come over the hill a bit later thanks to our resident ‘Hare’  Martin from Brooks who had set the course the day before.  On! On! The total choas of runners going everywhere was great!  Up hill and down dale and through the streams onto the road and back into the the bogs all with smiling faces, all trying to find the ‘blobs’ and the ones that would lead them in the right direction.  Finally arriving back at Kelly College about an hour and half later to be greeted by parents worried how filthy their cars will be!  A great weekend was had by all with smiley faces until the last.

We were privileged to have very experienced coaches and from the parents and children a big thankyou goes to – Maddie and Jay Horton, Fullysussed, Andy Bullock, ESCoaching, Will Newton , British Cycling and to current World Elite Triathlete Harry Wiltshire.

And finally a big thankyou to all of those that firstly completed the series and made it such a successful year and making Presentations great, and not forgeting the bike mechanics, taxi drivers, petrol suppliers, food suppliers, fashion gurus all commonly known as Mums and Dads!

The team arrived Saturday for race familiarisation on a rainy course, but the sun was out for race day!

After transition closed at 7:30am the first race of the day at 9:15am went off for Tri-Star 2 girls, in which Lucy Brain and Maia Hawkins placed a very respectable 10^th and 11^th after the 200m open water swim, 5.5km bike, and 1.8km run.

The Tri-Star 2 boys raced next, with Henry Dixon Leading out of the water very convincingly. During the bike leg he was joined by a group. At the start of the run, we had both Henry and Ben Jones in the top 5. Ben had a very solid run to pull him into 1^st place, followed closely by 2^nd and 3^rd with Henry close behind in 4^th.

The third race was the Tri-Star 3 girls where we had a strong performance from both Alice Dixon and Emily Attfield. With Alice finishing in 8^th place and Emily finishing 18^th over the 300m swim, 7.3km bike and 2.4km run.

Next up Tri-Star 3 boys, where Alex Chantler easily pulled away from the field during the swim. Giving him time to make sure his T1 was good, and still allowing him to get out on the bike in the first group. Hayden Burton pulled back strongly and came home in 1^st place, with Alex finishing in 6^th.

Hannah Gibbs and Beckie James raced in the Youth age group, which involved a 400m swim, 10.9km bike, and a 3km run. With Beckie finishing 30^th and Hannah close behind in 33^rd.

Finally Miles Burton, Connor Banks and Alec Vessey competed in the Youth boys race over the same distance as the Youth girls. The results of this were, Miles 1st, Connor 16^th and Alec 34^th.

We would like to thank all the athletes, who all performed brilliantly and proud how they acted all weekend. They are a credit to the South West.

Thanks also goes Harry Wiltshire and Rhys Davey for their coaching support over the weekend and last but not least. Most importantly a big thankyou to the Parents who supported the team and transported the athletes all the way to Newcastle!

Here we go! Vale Tridents triathlon this weekend.  A last run out before the season closes and we are all in to the winter training mode.

Here we go!  Invites have been sent to all the SW athletes who completed the Series and should have received their invites to the TESW Presentations weekend in October.  If you have not been contacted please leave a reply below.

Yes a weekend to celebrate the biggest ever Series with the three disciplines with a slight twist.  Yes it’s mountain biking and and a variation on a theme on the run over the weekend with the all important Presentations.  We  recognise everyones acheivements.  A chance to meet and train with your friends with our top BTF coaches in the SW.

These athletes performed tremendously at Eton, Dorney Lake and the Youth with their 2nd race at Porthcawl over the 2 weekends. Commitment and enthusiasm remaining throughout they have been on their training weekend to start their preparation for the big race.

On the first weekend in September they will travel to Hettons Country Park, Newcastle to race against the rest of the other 10 Regions. We wish them good luck and hope their training will pay off allowing them to perform and aspire.
