About South West Series
Welcome to Triathlon England South West in one of the most exciting year’s for sport in this country. Olympic year 2012. Let’s hope the legacy will be here for years to come. Develop, perform, aspire.
The SW Region is one of the largest and geographically diverse regions within the 11 regions. The SW comprises: Avon, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire.
This website is solely for Childrens Triathlon in the South West. The South West Regional website can be accessed via http://trienglandsw.org/.
The SW Region co-ordinates with events taking place for inclusion into a series of competitive races. The Tri-Star, Youth and Junior Series for the 2012 season known as South West Series (SWS) consists of designated points scoring races and Championship races.
The Series is here to help develop aspiring athletes and to nurture talent. To this end races have been selected with this in mind.
The SWS will be a competition in its own right combined with the selection for Triathlon England South West Inter Regional Championship Team, known as Team South West competing at the British Triathlon Inter Regional Championships (IRCs) at the end of the season. (Refer to IRC Team 2012). Included in the SWS will be the SW Championship races.
The race categories for the SWS, SW Champs and IRC Qualifier (TS2 and above) are:
Tri-Star 1 TS1 9-10 years
Tri-Star 2 TS2 11-12 years
Tri-Star 3 TS3 13-14 years
Youth YTH 15-16 years
Junior JNR 17-19 years (B&C)
Please note Tri-Star Start (8 years and under) will not be included in the race series and will therefore not score points. This is so they can enjoy the race and begin to understand triathlon and its technicalities.
Tri-Star 1s will have a number of events to choose from to further develop their understanding but will have the opportunity to be part of their own SWS but this will not include open water or draft legal racing. However this does not stop individuals entering such events.
Tri-Star 2, 3 and Youth will experience open water and draft legal cycle racing with a view to performance and an opportunity to be selected for team South West at the IRCs.
Juniors will continue to develop with their move into Sprints (adult races) which includes road racing and therefore will have their own Series.
We encourage you to take part in and support as many races possible and we wish you all the best for the forth-coming season.

An athlete’s best 3 results will count towards their final series score of which will include 1 triathlon.
• Tri-Star 2 & Tri-Star 3
An athlete’s best 3 results will count towards their final series score of which 1 will be triathlon and 1 open water race.

Results:
An athlete must be registered prior to the points scoring race to score in the SWS.

The series results will be co-coordinated by the JSO and published on this site.
SW Championship Races:
These races will be incorporated within the SWS Series of races where the Champion will be the first registered SW athlete past the post and are identified in the Race Calendar.
All races are sanctioned by the BTF and therefore competitors and spectators will abide by the rules of the Federation, SWS and local organiser rules. All events will have a Race Day Referee who will have the final decision on the day.
